Adventures Ashore:
Visby by Bicycle (Shore Excursion VIS-3271) Enjoy a bicycle tour of Visby, "City of Roses and Ruins." You'll stop at Almedalen, then pass the Powder Tower and the Botanical Garden and continue uphill to Klinten for a view of the medieval town and cathedral. Bicycling on through the narrow lanes, you'll pass through the eastern gate and continue about three miles to Fridhem for coffee or tea and biscuits. This boarding house used to be the summer palace of Princess Eugenie. On our return, we'll also stop at Högklint, a steep cliff with a panoramic view of Visby. Circle of Interest enhancements include private transportation, private guide and possibly an alternate route that is more strenuous with a special Swedish athlete host (based on availability or Circle participants' desires).
Finnish Forest Hike and Canoeing Adventure (July 8, 22, August 5 and 19 sailings) (Shore Excursion HEL-6239) Start your tour with a 45-minute drive to Nuuksio National Park, a national park uniquely characterized by broken bedrock crossed by innumerable faults left over from the Ice Age. There are dozens of lakes, valleys and ravines, with infertile rocky hills rising to 360 feet above sea level, and from the tops of crags, the views are splendid. Your naturalist guide will introduce you to the amazing secrets of Finnish nature as you hike along narrow paths through the forest, go canoeing and enjoy a typical Finnish snack by an open fire, where you can barbecue your own sausage and eat delicious filled rye pastries called Carelian pies. Circle of Interest enhancements include private transportation, private guide and alternate routes.

Walking Tour: Experience Daily Life in St. Petersburg (Shore Excursion STP-6231) Visit the local markets, taking a ride on St. Petersburg famous Metro. This fascinating cultural tour gives you an insider's look at everyday life in this historic capital of the czars.
The best Soviet architects were employed to design St. Petersburg's Metro stations - the "People's Palaces" envisioned by Stalin. Thousands of tons of marble, granite and limestone were used to face the walls, and sculptures, mosaics and chandeliers were commissioned from leading artists. The first line, which opened in 1955, is the most fascinating. We'll visit both the Pushkin and Vladimir stations and take a short ride on the train. A peek at St. Petersburg's markets and food stores provides an intriguing insight into everyday life in Russia's old capital. Locals shop for food in the Kuznechny Market, which sells fruits, vegetables, fresh meat and fish, delicious homemade cottage cheese and wonderful natural honey. One of the most reputable delicatessen stores in the city is called Elyseev on the Nevsky Prospect in one of the most opulent modern buildings. It's the best place in town to buy caviar and vodka.
The final stop on this tour is a vodka tasting in the City Center. Circle of Interest enhancements include private transportation, private guide, and private, alternate location for vodka tasting.
