Port: Corfu

Corfu
Legendary Corfu is a lush and romantic island, written about by Homer in his famous Odyssey. The island's history is full of battles, indicative of Corfu's turbulent position that lasted until modern times with unification with modern Greece in 1864. Corfu offers a combination of cosmopolitan and time-honored Greece. As well as a flower-strewn countryside and Adriatic-style villages, Corfu has splendid coastal scenery and some excellent secluded beaches.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

This off-road vehicle tour allows you to explore some of the most traditional and typical old villages on the island, not often visited by the tourists, as well as some of the most beautiful parts of the Corfiot countryside. This adventure, partly on asphalt and partly on dirt tracks, explores the northwestern parts of the mountainous terrain of Mount Pantokrator, known as the Land of the Gods because of the natural beauty of the area and the breathtaking views over the plains of the island below. Starting from the port, you drive up the main coastal road leading to the north of the island, passing by the resorts of Kontokali, Gouvia and Dassia.
Once in Dassia, you will take a small road shaded by olive trees which passes through Kato (Lower) Korakiana and leads to the village of Ano (Upper) Korakiana. Crossing through the village of Ano Korakiana, one of the oldest, largest and most beautiful Corfiot villages, you take the narrow winding road with the 27 zigzag turns leading up the slopes of Pantokrator Mountain and into the picturesque village of Sokraki, one of the oldest on the island, resting on the top of the mountain, hidden amidst the pine and the olive trees. Once in Sokraki, your guide will take you for a walk around the narrow winding street of the village. You will enjoy a heartening meze (light snack) and a refreshing glass of local wine or a soft drink at the local coffee shop situated at the village square.
Having gathered up your strength, you then say good-bye to the asphalt, and take a fantastic dirt track along a mountain ridge to the village of Troumbetta, resting on the main pass to the northern part of the island. From there, driving on the narrow country road leading to the northwestern shores of the island amidst dense forests of fern, pine and cypress trees and the usual ageless olive groves, you arrive to the village of Lakones, perched high on the north-western slopes of Pantokrator Mountain. From here you can enjoy some breathtaking panoramic views of Paleokastritsa, the area known as the Capri of Greece before driving through the valley of Ropa back to your ship.
Please note: The tour is led by professional guides and has a lead driver. Guests wishing to drive themselves need to carry a valid driving license. Drivers are available at an extra cost. Guests must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license in their possession. Each off-road vehicle carries a driver and three passengers.
