Santorini
With dramatic views of white houses clinging perilously to the side of the caldera and stunning beaches of white and red sand or black pebbles, it’s no wonder Santorini may be the most photographed scenery in the world. Between the 21st and 16th centuries BC, the Minoans lived on the island, which was later flooded and preserved under a blanket of volcanic ash. It is believed that the effects of the volcano led indirectly to the collapse of the Minoan civilization.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

Explore the unparalleled beauty and ancient history of Greece during this visit to a Prehistoric Museum on the volcanic island of Santorini.
Your tour will start from the port of Athinios, where guests will depart for the drive to the Prehistoric Museum. Upon arrival, guests will receive a guided tour of the museum, which houses the bounty from the excavation site of Akrotiri. The exhibition is structured in four units; the history and research of Thira, geology of Thira, island history from the late-Neolithic to late-Cycladic I Period, and a presentation of the plan and architecture of the city. Next, you'll proceed to the Nomikos Foundation for a tour of the facilities, and a look at the numerous exquisite works of art.
Continuing to the Zafora Restaurant and cliffside veranda on the caldera, guests are sure to enjoy a delicious lunch consisting of a typical Greek meze snack and wine, along with an amazing view, and photo opportunities of the ancient land and sea below. Your tour concludes with a short walk to the cable car, which will take you back to the town of Thira.
Please note: Please wear comfortable walking shoes as there are many steps and cobblestone sidewalks. Also, please keep in mind that there may be lines for the cable cars during the busy summer season. There is a steep uphill walk and several steps from the parking stop in Thira town to the cable car. It is not considered suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Caps and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
