Lesbos is Greece's third largest island and was once a major cultural center, known for its Philosophical Academy, where Epicurus and Aristotle once taught. It was also the birthplace of the philosopher Theophrastus, who presided over the Academy in Athens, of the great poet Sappho of Trepanned, the father of Greek music and of Arion, who influenced the later playwrights Sophocles and Alcaeus.
Departing from the port you will proceed to Taxiarches to visit the church Kagiani. You will spend approximately 30 minutes viewing the church and appreciating the breathtaking view of the city.
You will then proceed to Agiasos for a visit of the Church of the Virgin Mary and approximately 45 minutes of free time will be afforded for strolling in the village or shopping before your return to the pier.
