The Maddalena Island Experience
Duration: 5 hours
Tour Code: olb-001
Driving from Olbia, you will pass through northern Sardinia's distinctive landscape, covered with vegetation known as macchia mediterreanea, which contrasts beautifully with the region's many granite outcroppings. Arriving at the port of Palau, you will sail by ferry to La Maddalena, a strategically located, triangular-shaped island that has undergone numerous invasions since first occupied by the Romans. The island is revered for its rugged terrain, fine beaches and lively plazas in the town of the same name.
Some free time is included to explore the town center and beyond. In the parish church there are two candelabras and a Crucifix, both of which were donated to the island's community by Admiral Nelson. Perhaps you will want to spend your time shopping in Garibaldi Square which contains some great shops, or enjoy a stroll along the lovely promenade, before it's time to sail back to Palau and then transfer to your waiting ship.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 hour of walking and/or standing, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time. This tour is not considered suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair or those with mobility concerns. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. During the off-season (September-June), you may find that the shops, restaurants & bars will be closed.
