The town celebrates its Jubilee every seven years and in 2003, it was visited by the then Cardinal Ratzinger, who is now the present Pope.
Your day begins with a picturesque drive of just under 2-hours to the Old Quarter of Caravaca de la Cruz. Upon arrival, you will leave your coach behind and with your guide leading the way, walk to the city's most famous site, The Sanctuary of the Santísima and Vera Cruz (true cross). Declared of Historic-Artistic Heritage by the Spanish tourist board, the most important feature of the Sanctuary is the cross, which has become the symbol of the town. After what will no doubt be an unforgettable visit at the Sanctuary, you will continue on foot to the Old Town Square where lunch will be provided at a local restaurant.
Following lunch, you will begin your return to journey to Cartagena, making one final stop along the way to see the Marqués Fountains. This is one of the most picturesque sites in the region of Murcia and you will have some free time here to take in the natural beauty of this location at your leisure.
