Explore Tahiti's pristine natural beauty and historic sites during this half-day tour of the island's picturesque west coast, and a visit to the Paul Gauguin Museum.

Depart the pier for the scenic drive along Tahiti's west coast. Upon arrival in the residential district of Punaauia, you will proceed to Fisherman's Point, or La Pointe des Pecheurs, for a visit to the Museum of Tahiti and Her Islands. In addition to displaying a number of archeological finds, the museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the island's geology, flora and fauna, as well as the culture and customs of ancient and modern Tahiti.

Next, your drive will continue on to the Paul Gauguin Museum, which is nestled in a spacious garden. Gauguin lived in Polynesia from June 1891 to August 1893 and again from August 1895 to May 1903, the time of his death in the Marquesas Islands. During your visit, you will have some free time to browse this small museum and learn about Gauguin's life. While the museum does not display any original paintings, it offers a good retrospective on the life and work of this renowned artist.

Your tour will conclude with a visit to the Arahurahu Marae. Situated in a pretty valley, this quiet, sacred landmark served both religious and social functions in pre-Christian Polynesian societies. Following your visit, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier.

Please note: A brief walk is required to access the Aruhurahu Marae.
