Art & Culture of Punta Del Este
Duration: 6 hours
Tour Code: pdp-005
Explore the cultural side of Punta del Este through a tour of its finest museums and most architecturally rich neighborhoods.
As you leave the pier, you will commence a drive through Punta del Este, a glamorous city on a scenic peninsula. Beautiful beaches are among its biggest attractions, and you will soon see two of the best in this so-called "St. Tropez of South America". Playa Mansa curves around the calmer bay side, and Playa Brava fronts the ocean. Still, there is much more to Punta del Este, especially for those seeking luxury, which is why wealthy South Americans find it so magnetic.
The city's inspirational culture shines in the Ralli Museum of Contemporary Art, which is located in a lovely Spanish-style building in the fashionable Beverly Hills neighborhood. Admire the collection of paintings and sculpture by some of Latin America's most talented artists, complemented by European works by Dali, Chagall and others. Following your time at the Ralli Museum, you will make a stop at Golero Avenue, the city's main thoroughfare and most exquisite shopping district. After approximately 90-minutes at leisure in this great shopping locale where you can browse for souvenirs and grab a quick lunch, you will continue on to Casapueblo.
Home of famed Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro, Casapueblo is a sprawling white complex perched on a bluff above the ocean and houses many of the artist's most definitive works. During your guided visit of this charming site, you will not only enjoy some fabulous views, but also a flute of champagne.
At the conclusion of your visit, you will rejoin your coach and travel back to the pier.
Please Note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of moderate walking/standing plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time on Golero Avenue. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Casual clothing; sunglasses and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
