This tour combines several elements to offer a blend of exploration and environmental discoveries. Meeting your guide on the pier, you'll board an open-air speedboat. Following a short safety briefing, your boat will zip you across the turquoise bay to Los Haitises National Park for the ecological experience of a lifetime. Well-known for having one of the most important, lush rainforests and mangrove reserves in the entire Caribbean, the Park is truly an awe-inspiring sanctuary.

Arriving at Los Haitises, your boat will first circle the small cay known as Bird Island while your guide points out and explains the importance of the many migratory and indigenous birds that inhabit the island. Next, your Captain will navigate your boat through winding mangrove swamps to an area of intriguing caves where you will dock and proceed on foot to explore two of the caves. Once inside, you'll be able to view the fascinating ancient cave drawings which represent the Indian gods, and give a glimpse into the daily life of the Taino Indians who once inhabited these caverns. They are also home to some impressive stalagmites and stalactites.

Following your cave exploration, you'll be provided with kayaking equipment and experience the magnificence of Los Haitises in a truly extraordinary manner. Gliding down the hidden river canals of the mangrove forest, you'll witness first-hand the serene splendor of the Park's untouched natural setting and the exotic birds that make this their home. When your peaceful water exploration is concluded, you'll rejoin your speedboat and return to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes minimal walking; however, some of it is over sandy or uneven ground and there are some bridges to negotiate. The tour is not recommended for guests who utilize a wheelchair, those with mobility concerns, recent back or neck injuries, or pregnant women. It is suggested that guests wear comfortable, flat, shoes with a non-slip sole as well as sun cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Because the speedboat and kayaks are open-air, there is a chance of getting wet. It is not recommended for those who suffer from motion sickness.
