Port: Costa Maya
|
Costa Maya
Costa Maya is the closest port of access to many of the lesser known Mayan ruins in the Yucatan including Chacchoben and Kohunlich. These sites are substantially less excavated than the better known pyramids near Cancun. The Mexican government is trying to improve the standard of living for the Indian population. The path chosen to do this in the Costa Maya area is to develop small-scale ecological based tourism destinations, including natural reserve parks.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.
Experience the wonderful undersea world of the Caribbean from a unique vantage-point during this kayaking adventure in Costa Maya.
Depart the pier for the brief transfer to the sleepy Mayan fishing village of Mahahual, and its beautiful beach. Upon arrival, you will receive your instructions from your guide before climbing aboard your clear, two-seat kayak. As you paddle away from the scenic tropical shoreline and along the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, you will observe wonderful views of a wide array of marine life thriving just beneath the surface.
Next, you will return to the white sands of the beach club, for some rest and relaxation. After a refreshing complimentary plate of fruit and a cold beer, you can do some shopping in the nearby stores, take a refreshing dip in the sea, or just relax beneath the shade of an umbrella and soak in your surroundings.
Following your tour, you will be transferred back to the pier and ship.
Please note: Wear your swimsuit under a cover-up, biodegradable sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, and bring a towel from the ship. The total weight per kayak may not exceed 425 lbs. Children must be at least six years old to participate, and accompanied by a parent.
