Port: Philipsburg

Philipsburg

St. Maarten is the smallest piece of land shared by two sovereign states. Legend has it that the Dutch and French boundaries of the island were determined by two men who challenged one another in a race around the island, with the Frenchman walking faster and claiming more land. Legend or not, both the Dutch and French settled here in the 1630s and despite occupancy by the British twice, the Dutch and French have lived peacefully together ever since they arrived.

The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

Discover the coastal beauty of St. Maarten during this relaxing snorkeling and beach tour aboard a fully-equipped catamaran.

Depart the pier aboard your catamaran, the 63-foot Golden Eagle, for a scenic cruise to a beautiful sandy beach on the calm side of the island. Along the way, you can sit back and relax as the crew trolls for kingfish. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphin, flying fish or an enormous whale in season.

Next, the Golden Eagle will anchor off an idyllic white sand beach. Upon arrival, you will have an opportunity to explore the island, sunbathe on the beach or snorkel in the crystal clear waters. After receiving your safety instructions, snorkeling and flotation equipment, you will enter the water to explore the local marine life. Your crew will provide assistance in the water, and throughout your cruise.

Following your snorkeling session, you will embark the boat for the return cruise to the pier. En route, you will be served fresh sandwiches and champagne accompanied by onboard music.

Please note: This tour is not recommended for guests with back and/or neck problems, guests with limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair. The tour is located on the French side of the island, and some nudity may be observed. Operation of the vessel and beach selection is subject to weather and sea conditions. Guests are advised to wear a swimsuit under a cover-up, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and bring a towel from the ship. Participants may not exceed 250 pounds. This tour may not be exclusive to RSSC guests.
