Port: Grand Turk

Grand Turk
Grand Turk is the capital of Turks & Caicos, and it has been a longtime favorite destination for divers eager to explore the 7,000-foot-deep pristine coral walls that drop down only 300 yards out to sea. On shore, the tiny island is home to white-sand beaches, the National Museum, and a few wild horses and donkeys, which leisurely meander past the white-walled courtyards, pretty churches, and bougainvillea-covered colonial inns on their daily commute into town.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

For the more adventurous at heart, climb behind the wheel of a sand dune buggy. These buggies were made for traveling on the vast sand dunes of the ICA deserts of Peru. You will be met at the pier and given a short orientation and safety briefing before donning your goggles for the drive. Head off down the narrow tracks that skirt the beach and rocky coastline, making your way around the island to the southeast side. Stop along the way at one of the many breathtaking white sand beaches where you can view Gibb's Cay and a few other small, uninhabited islands that are visible in the Atlantic Ocean.
Climb back into your buggies for the drive to the John Glenn's Capsule located at the entrance to the international airport. While on your way to the charming little city of Cockburn Town, pass the many salinas that were used to obtain salt in its natural form during the peak of the island's salt industry days. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the famous endangered pink flamingos that can be seen foraging through the silted bottoms of the salina ponds in search of brine shrimp and other crustaceans indigenous to the natural wild life. Afterwards, continue on to the charming little city of Cockburn Town, the administrative and political capital of the Turks & Caicos Islands.
After catching a quick look of the Capital you will make your way to North Wells, where you may see some indigenous wild horses that roam free on the island. Enter North Wells by way of a narrow sand track and continue on your way around the island, passing the North Creek which is considered a ships' haven during a hurricane, to the northernmost tip of the island. From here, you may enjoy the view from the cliffs high above the Atlantic Ocean, and take a short nature walk to the tip of the island. Returning to your buggies, you will then journey along the east coast and back to the pier.
Please note: This tour travels along 4WD tracks and navigates over rocky and uneven terrain. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests, pregnant women or guests with heart, back, or neck ailments, or those with mobility concerns. Participants should be in good physical condition. It is recommended that you bring a towel, sun block and Aqua Shoes with you. Also, a valid driver's license is required for this tour. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
