From the pier, drive through the capital city of Castries while enjoying views of the market, cathedral, Derek Walcott Square and the central library. Your first stop will be Morne Fortune. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views of Castries, the northwestern coast and the sea below.
Continue your journey through Cul de Sac and Roseau banana plantations toward the fishing villages of Anse-La-Raye and Canaries, where you may see fishermen repairing nets and setting out to sea. Continue along the winding coastal road as you approach the city of Soufriere with its dramatic Pitons rising more than 2,500 feet from the sea.
Arriving in Soufriere, you'll first enjoy a guided tour at the Diamond Botanical Gardens. The Diamond Falls are consistently described as one of the natural wonders of St Lucia. This six acre, multi-award winning tourism site, is an attractive, alluring and peaceful retreat from the outside world. Relax and take in the beauty and sultry warmth of the tropics as you stroll through lush fertile vegetation and a diverse range of tropical flowers and plant life. The Gardens are also a haven for birds and insects, which provides for a true nature experience not to be duplicated anywhere within the Caribbean.
Next, you will make your way to Morne Coubaril Estate, a sprawling plateau farm in the highlands of Soufriere. Your guided tour of the Estate includes a small village of replica stick huts similar to those used two centuries ago by local villagers. The Estate's gardens offer close-up views of popular local flora. Your guide then leads you up the estate driveway to present the manioc house where you receive a close-up live demonstration of the process of de-husking a coconut and drying the copra in the oven. Afterwards, you'll be treated to a taste of coconut water and jelly.
A delicious buffet lunch will be served at a this beautiful estate, where you will dine on Caribbean delicacies in old plantation ambiance. Following lunch, you'll board a comfortable catamaran for a relaxing cruise back to Castries, stopping at a tranquil cove to swim in the crystal clear waters.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 2.5 hours of moderate walking, at times over uneven, gravel and dirt surfaces. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; and flat, rubber soled shoes are recommended. Those who wish to swim should also bring a swim suit and towel. Guests taking part in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility. Maximum allowable weight is 250 lbs and maximum height allowance is 6'2". Maximum age for participation is 75 years old. The order of sites viewed or visited may vary.
