Roatán, Honduras-port

Warm Caribbean waters with excellent diving, white sand beaches, and tropical sunsets are some of the attractions of the Bay Islands. Roatan’s major source of income is tourism, particularly because of SCUBA diving attractions. The underwater environment is rich and extensive with reefs surrounding the islands, often within swimming distance of the shore. Caves and caverns are a common feature, with a variety of sponge and the best collection of pillar coral.

Go deep-sea fishing for blue marlin or kingfish, two species known for putting up legendary fights when hooked. Your experienced local captain knows just where to look for them in these waters.

It's a short drive from the pier to your deep-sea fishing boat, where everything needed for your adventure is provided. Depending on what's been biting lately, the captain will decide whether to fish for blue marlin or kingfish.

Blue marlins are among the world's largest and most recognizable fish. Cobalt blue on top and silvery-white below, they grow up to 14 feet in length and weigh an average of 200 to 400 pounds. They are extremely fast swimmers and use their long, spear-like upper jaw to slash through schools of fish, wounding them so they can easily be consumed. If you catch one of these strikingly beautiful billfish, be prepared for a tremendous fight, as blue marlins are powerful and have a reputation for tenacity that borders on the legendary.

If the captain opts to go after kingfish, you'll have a fight of a different sort on your hands. Kingfish, also known as King Mackerel, are aggressive, hard-hitting and built for speed. They typically feed by sight in the daytime, attacking their prey from underneath, prodigiously leaping out of the water on the follow through, and then returning to the water headfirst like a diver. Hook one and it will be an unforgettable experience.

After approximately 2-hours of fishing, you'll return to the fishing dock and then transfer back to the ship.

Please note: There is minimal walking on this tour, but handling the rods and reels can be quite strenuous in the event you hook a fish. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Light-weight, casual clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; and flat, comfortable, non-skid walking shoes are recommended. All fishing is catch and release and no fishing license is required.
