Sample some of the most popular products made in Jacksonville and watch their production during a variety of enlightening factory tours.
After departing from the pier for downtown Jacksonville, you will soon discover the city’s deep regard for all things related to food and drink. Jacksonville caters to gourmands and countless products are made locally, including Maxwell House coffee whose iconic “Good to the Last Drop” coffee cup logo can be seen atop the factory on the St. Johns River.
As you travel through Jacksonville’s historical San Marco neighborhood, you will have the opportunity to tour the acclaimed Peterbrooke Chocolatier. Although the company’s signature item is chocolate-covered popcorn, you will see plenty of other irresistible sweets being made. Peterbrooke is also known for decadent truffles, hand-dipped strawberries, milk chocolate potato chips, and even dark chocolate pizza. As part of the tour, you may sample a selection of some of their most popular products.
Jacksonville is also home to an Anheuser-Busch brewery, where you will observe how its beers have been crafted since 1852. You will see each step in the process, all the way through packaging. You will also learn about Anheuser-Busch’s environmentally friendly conservation efforts that help support wildlife in the surrounding wetlands. Of course, no brewery tour is complete without sampling the products, and you are welcome to partake.
Afterwards, you will have free time for lunch on your own before returning to the pier.
