Juneau, Alaska-port

In 1880, Joe Juneau and Richard Harris were prospecting for gold with the help of Indian guides. Here they discovered nuggets “as large as beans” at the mouth of the aptly named Gold Creek. Out of their discoveries came three of the largest gold digs in the world where more than $150 million in gold was mined. Juneau’s surrounding beauty and natural wonders have attracted cruise ship travelers for over a century, with steamship companies bringing tourists here since the early 1880’s.

Experience Alaska's glacial beauty in a unique new way during this picturesque helicopter flight-seeing tour, glacier walk and dogsled ride.

Depart the pier for the brief drive to the helicopter base. Upon arrival, and after your quick safety briefing and glacier boot fitting, you will take a helicopter flight over the massive Juneau Icefield before landing on a nearby glacier for a visit to an exclusive dog-sledding camp. Upon arrival at the dog-sledding camp, you will meet the professional mushers and Alaskan sled dogs, learn about the famous, 1,000-mile Iditarod race and take an exciting dogsled ride, the highlight of your visit.

Next, your flight-seeing expedition will continue over the majestic Juneau Icefield and its wondrous glaciers. Your pilot will fly you over the ice spires and pinnacles of the cascading, advancing or retreating glaciers below. As you glide over the elegant rivers of ice, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife below.

Following your visit, you will re-board your helicopter for the return flight to the helicopter base, then be transferred back to the ship.

Please note: This tour involves approximately 35 minutes of total flight time, and 1 hour on the glacier. The tour is recommended for guests in good physical condition. Guests with back and/or neck problems, guests with asthma, heart or respiratory conditions, limited mobility and guests who utilize a wheelchair will not be permitted on this tour. Guests are advised to wear warm clothing, including mittens and sunglasses; glacier-walking boots will be provided. Weather permitting, there will be a possibility of converting to the Glacier Landing Adventure by Helicopter (JNU-010). A window seat is not guaranteed. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.

*Due to weight and balance limitations, passenger safety and comfort, passengers weighing 250 pounds or more may be assessed an additional surcharge of up to $150 to reserve extra space onboard the helicopter.
