Enjoy all the classics of coastal Maine, including quaint villages, panoramic vistas of the sea, and a delicious lobster bake.

Your tour commences from the pier with a drive north through Rockland, seeing its signature Breakwater Lighthouse in the distance. Ahead lies Rockport, one of Maine's most beautiful harbors, and then there's gorgeous Mount Battie. With its bare, rocky summit, the mountain affords outstanding views of Penobscot Bay and the town of Camden below. In 1614, Captain John Smith was enamored of the area, poetically describing it as "the high mountains of Penobscot, against whose feet doth beat the sea." Echoing his appreciation for scenery, Pulitzer Prize-winner Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote numerous poems immortalizing the vista. You will also be inspired, especially if it's a clear day and you can catch sight of Acadia National Park, the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard. Be sure to bring your camera to capture some great photos of the view from here.

Traveling down the mountain into Camden, you'll enjoy more than an hour of free time. Being a quintessential New England harbor town, it's always bustling with activity. You might shop or stroll the waterfront, working up an appetite for lunch at a coastal resort nearby. What could be a more traditional meal than Maine lobster drizzled in butter (steak is available on request for those non-lobster eaters), with sweet corn on the cob, and a homemade blueberry dessert? It's the exclamation point to this classic New England tour, which closes with a picturesque drive back to Rockland pier.

Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests' discretion during the stops. There will be various gradients and surfaces to negotiate, including dirt/gravel paths at Mount Battie. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Scooters under 60 lbs. are permitted. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Rain resistant layered clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
