Port: Bora Bora

Bora Bora
Bora Bora lies 150 miles northwest of Tahiti in the Society Islands. The main island, home to 4,225 inhabitants, is in the center of a multicolored lagoon, surrounded by offshore "motu" islets inside a protective coral necklace. Its lagoon is world-famous for its beauty. A partially paved road circles the island, passing colorful villages, archeological sites, and old Army bunkers and cannons left over from WWII, when 5,000 American GIs made a "friendly invasion."
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.
Shark and Ray Watching By Glass-Bottomed Boat Tour Code: BRB-7575 Duration: 1 1/2 hours Price: Free
| |
Get acquainted with sharks and rays in a unique new way during this glass-bottomed boat ride in Bora Bora, and a swim with stingrays.
After embarking your glass-bottomed boat at the pier, you will depart for a brief cruise. Your guide will then tie the boat to a mooring in about 25 feet of water, and try to attract black-tipped sharks. You will observe the dance of these ocean denizens, and if you are lucky, spot some lemon sharks known to frequent the area. Next, you will proceed to a shallower, clear lagoon for a rare opportunity to view, embrace and swim with graceful stingrays.
Following your tour, you will be transferred back to the pier.
Please note: Underwater viewing takes place through large glass windows. The roof provides protection from the sun and eliminates glare, enhancing photo and video quality. Swimming is not permitted during the first stop with sharks, but is highly recommended with the stingrays. Wear your swimsuit under a cover up, and bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a towel from the ship. Although shark and stingray sightings frequently occur, they cannot be guaranteed.
