Explore the skillful arts and crafts for which the Indonesian islanders are particularly renowned during this village and market tour of Lombok.
Depart the pier for the scenic drive to Sukarara Village, which is noted for the production of the cotton and silk ikat cloth that is coveted throughout Indonesia and exported to foreign countries. Upon arrival, you will observe the complex process of fashioning the intricate patterns of material used for sarongs, wall hangings, pillowcases and other popular items.
Next, you will proceed for a visit to the Cakranegara Market, a traditional market where daily household goods and requirements are available at very reasonable prices. Upon arrival, some time will be made available for you to browse through the various spices, vegetables, dried fish and many other items that are required for the day's cooking. A variety of souvenirs can also be found here.
Your tour will continue with a visit to the Pearl Shop. Pearl farming has become very popular throughout the island of Lombok, and the Pearl Shop offers a unique look at the various types of pearls available. Your visit to Lombok will conclude with a stop at the pottery village of Banyumulek. Upon arrival, you will learn about the traditional, age-old pottery-making process.
Following your visit, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier.
