Noumea
Capital of the French territory New Celedonia, Noumea played an important role in World War II, serving as the headquarters of the United States military in the Pacific. It boasts the most sunshine of any Pacific island capital, and is also the most European-influenced. Called “The Paris of the Pacific,” it features fine French dining, designer boutiques, and cosmopolitan residents. Just off the coast, the longest barrier reef in the world shelters 350 species of coral and 1,500 species of fish.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

Embrace the splendid natural beauty of Noumea during this memorable sightseeing tour of the city and countryside.
Depart the pier for the scenic drive to the outlying district of Robinson. Upon arrival, a visit will be made to the Church of the Conception, a popular pilgrimage destination. Built for a missionary in 1874, this charming little church is a monument to gratitude, and features many plaques giving thanks to the Virgin Mary for her favors and miracles.
Next, you will return to the city along the scenic Vernier Promenade. En route, you will pass by the landmark Meridien Hotel before stopping at the Ouen Toro Lookout to admire the exquisite surroundings. New Caledonia boasts the world's largest lagoon, and a barrier reef that is second in size only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The perspective from this tip of the peninsula, where you will also find a noble World War II memorial, offers spectacular vistas overlooking the bays, beaches and small marine reserves fringed with coral reefs.
Afterward, a stop will be made at the Bilboquet restaurant for coffee, tea and homemade cake. Some free time will also be made available for you to browse the curio shops in the Palm Beach Gallery. Your tour will conclude with a brief photo stop at the FOL lookout point, which offers splendid views overlooking the city center, nickel plant and your ship.
Following your visit, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier.
