Port: Cape Town

Cape Town

Cape Town

Often regarded as one of the world's most beautiful cities because of its geography, Cape Town is one of the most popular South African destinations. Cape Town was home to many leaders of the anti-apartheid movement, despite many of the group's leaders' internment on Robben Island, a penitentiary island where many famous political prisoners were held for many years. One of the most famous moments marking the end of apartheid occurred in Cape Town, when Nelson Mandela made his first public speech in decades hours after being released.

The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.

Seated Tour

Discover the glittering nighttime charm of this vibrant cosmopolitan city on this mostly panoramic tour. Departing from the pier you will first pass by the Cape Town FIFA World Cup Stadium as you travel towards Sea Point.

The promenade of Sea Point, which stretches to Mouille Point, is very popular with locals and visitors alike. It is a jogger's mile and many people enjoy meeting here for a walk and good conversation. While the beaches in Sea Point are not very good for swimming because the surf is too powerful and the coast too rocky, there is a huge seawater swimming pool.

From here, you will travel to Clifton Beach, which is frequented by Cape Town's trendiest residents and is a haven for international jetsetters. Together with its immaculate white sands and glistening water, it's the ideal spot for people to perfect their tans. Although best known for its glamorous 'see and be seen' status, Clifton Beach is also very eco-savvy and has acquired blue flag status, which means it has reached the highest standards for cleanliness along with being deemed environmentally sound and adhering to international safety and tourist standards

A photo stop will be made at the Maiden's Cove parking area which is situated between Camps Bay and Clifton Beach and near the Glen Country Club. From this location, you can look up at the cable car station for a view of famous Table Mountain.

Your tour continues toward the mountain and over Kloof Nek Road towards the bustling city center of Cape Town before returning back to the pier.

Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guest's discretion during the brief stop at Maiden's Cove. This tour is not recommended for wheelchair guests as they would be required to remain on the coach during the stops. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual clothing, a light jacket or sweater and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The order of the sites visited or viewed may vary. There are no restrooms available on this tour.
