Port: Male
|
Male
Malé, the capital of the Republic of Maldives, is located at the southern edge of North Male' Atoll Kaafu Atoll. Traditionally, Male was the “King’s Island,” from where the ancient Maldive Royal families had their palace and ruled the country. The Royal Palace, also called “Gan'duvaru,” was destroyed along with the picturesque forts and bastions when the city was reconstructed under President Ibrahim Nasir's rule and the abolition of the monarchy.
The following Shore Excursions are available for this port on this cruise, and may be reserved beginning 180 days before the cruise begins.
If you love beautiful beaches, then don't miss this visit to Dhonveli, an idyllic coral island located in the North Malé Atoll.
Depart the pier aboard a motorized speedboat for the ride to the resort island of Dhonveli, a lovely island that features lush tropical vegetation and palm trees, and is surrounded by a wide, sandy beach and the crystal-clear waters of an azure lagoon. The silent beauty of this tropical location complements the natural splendor of Dhonveli. Upon arrival, you can relax, unwind, swim and explore the beach.
Following your visit, you will embark your boat for the ride back to the pier.
Please note: The beach visit is approximately 2.5 hours in duration. Wear a swimsuit under a cover-up with beach shoes, and bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a towel from the ship. There are no lounge chairs, but freshwater showers and restrooms are available.
