This exclusive event is included for all guests, with the compliments of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Join us for an overnight stay in Beijing, the capital of the most populated nation in the world. From the sight of the massive ancient Great Wall, to the strict protocol in the Forbidden City and somber memories of Tiananmen Square, this sojourn into Beijing's history and people will be sure to leave a lasting impression on you.

Depart the pier for the drive to Beijing to visit some of the treasures found in the City and surrounding area. The Great Wall, which at one time stretched 7,000 miles, was erected through the efforts of more than a million workers. Construction of the Great Wall lasted from 221B.C. until the end of the Ming Dynasty in 1644. As you pass through the gates of the Forbidden City, the world of the last Emperor comes to mind. You will find a vast complex of pavilions, gardens and courtyards filled with fine Chinese bronzes, porcelains and paintings that exude an air of oppressive formality and ritual that was so much a part of the royal court.

The Great Hall of the People, History Museum of the Revolution, Mao Zedong's Mausoleum and the Gate of Heavenly Peace surround Tiananmen Square, the center of modern Beijing. Tiananmen Square is also the site of the Monument to People's Heroes, a granite obelisk that in recent years has been the site of many student demonstrations. These are some of the highlights you will see during your overnight stay in this fascinating metropolis.
