Experience Norway's breathtaking beauty during this memorable visit to the scenic North Cape Plateau. Situated on the Island of Magerøy some 1,300 miles south of the North Pole, Honningsvag is the northernmost city in Norway. The North Cape Plateau is without a doubt one of Norway's main attractions with its steep rock cliff rising like a massive wall more than 1,000 feet above sea level.
Departing the pier it's a 1-hour drive to the North Cape and the North Cape Hall. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore on your own. Some of the attractions here include shopping, a post office, chapel, bar, cafes and a wide-screen cinema. Throughout the day, the cinema will feature a 20-minute show that is a wonderful audio-visual presentation of Lapland and the North Cape. During the film, you will discover the magnitude of Lapland's breathtaking scenery as it occurs in each of the four seasons. The cinema can accommodate up to 250 guests for each show, which will be announced in English, German and French prior to starting time.
Weather permitting, it is a must to watch the panorama, i.e. the Artic Ocean, from the Globe that is situated near the edge of the cliff. You may also want to visit the "stone-wheels" set up on the plateau that show copies of drawings made by children from all corners of the world with the motto: "Peace and friendship' are worth a visit.
During your approximately 90-minute stay at the North Cape Plateau, you will have ample time for taking photographs, shopping and writing postcards before rejoining your coach for the ride back to Honningsvåg.
