Explore the city of Murmansk and enjoy traditional Russian pancakes on this delightful half-day tour.

Murmansk began its history on the 4th of October 1916 and since then has played an important role for the entire country. Lying on the Kola Bay, it is the largest city in the world above the Arctic Circle. Surrounded by tundra, Murmansk is shrouded in darkness during December and January, yet enjoys the Midnight sun for a period in the summer months.

Departing by coach from the pier, you will first make your way to the Palace of Culture, named after S. Kirov. Continuing on to the Memorial of The Defenders of Kola Land, you`ll view Lenin Avenue, Monument to St. Cyril and St. Methodus – two monk brothers who were the creators of the written Slavonic language and Monument to sister-towns. The central figure of the Memorial is a soldier, great in both size and importance, stands on a 23-foot pedestal with a gun over his shoulder. Also known as Alyosha, the warrior appears calm and strong as his eyes are fixed on the west, where enemies invaded during World War II. A stop here allows you to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

While driving back to the central part of Murmansk, you'll stop for a visit at the bright-white, gold-domed Orthodox Church, which together with the nearby Lighthouse Monument and Memorial to the Kursk submarine disaster, is part of the Memorial Complex dedicated to soldiers and sailors, who lost their lives during peacetime.

Back in the downtown area, you will make a final stop at one of Murmansk's typical cafés, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional pancakes served with jam or sour cream.

Following this delicious respite, you will re-board your coach and return to the pier where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour includes moderate walking and some steps. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Weather appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. Women are advised to cover their heads when visiting the Orthodox Church. The order of sights visited may vary in order to avoid congestion.
