Duration: 3 hours
Tour Code: hat-004
As is the case in most of Norway, the residents of Harstad are fond of nature and hiking. This tour, geared toward hikers, gives you the opportunity to hike in one of the areas favored by the locals.
Your tour commences with a 30-minute drive to the trail head at Mount Aunfjellet. Aunfjellet is one of Norway's natural treasures with scattered forest land, small mountain-lakes, marshland, stones, fields and indigenous plant life. Wildlife in the area consists of a variety of different birds, such as sparrows, eagles and hawks. You might even be fortunate enough to spot a fox or a member from the mink family. The hike is on a 1.5 mile long path that treks up to Mt. Kjeipen. Near the top, sit next to a campfire while being served freshly brewed coffee and snacks. Don't forget to bring your camera as you will want to be sure and capture photos of the amazing views that look out over the cliffs and indigo waters of the surrounding sea.
Retracing your steps, you will re-join your coach for the transfer back to Harstad where your tour concludes at the pier.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1.5 hours of strenuous hiking that travels both up and down hills and over natural surfaces, rocks and small rivers. The tour is not available to guests who utilize a wheelchair, guests with mobility concerns, heart conditions, asthma or pregnant women. Flat, sturdy hiking books, long pants and a light jacket are suggested. The transportation is not air-conditioned.
