    This excursion offers you the chance to enjoy a leisurely day spent visiting the pretty town of Quimper. Located in a scenic valley at the juncture of the Steir and Odet rivers, this delightful enclave is a popular tourist destination and boasts a long tradition of pottery making.

    Traveling by coach, it's a picturesque drive of just over 1 hour to reach the city, where upon arrival you will commence a guided walking tour. One of the highlights of your tour is the Cathedral St. Corentin. Originally constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries, it has a strong Norman influence and features some excellent stained-glass windows that date from the 15th and 19th centuries. The Cathedral's imposing twin spires dominate the skyline of Quimper, symbolizing both the wealth and Gothic art found in Brittany at that time.

    The city itself, once completely walled, has retained the aspect of a fortified town, including a covered way and watch tower that date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. The lay out of the city center, is such that the establishments of the local tradesmen and timber-framed houses, stand side-by-side with aristocratic mansions. There are numerous small bridges throughout the city that cross the river, and on all days except Sundays, there is a lively covered market in the center of town.

    Following your guided tour, you will have free time to further explore on your own or browse the shops before it's time to re-join your coach for the transfer back to Lorient.

    Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of moderate walking, much of it over cobblestone and uneven surfaces. There are also a few steps to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses are recommended. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary. In the event of religious ceremonies taking place, interior visits to any cathedrals will not be possible.
