"The timeless beauty of Bordeaux is yours to discover during this orientation tour of the city and surrounding areas.
Depart the pier for the drive by coach to Bordeaux along the famous Medoc wine road, Route des Châteaux, which is located between the Gironde Estuary and Landes Forest. En route, you will see panoramic views of vineyards as far as the eye can see. The Medoc Vineyards are orderly and impeccably maintained, and the famous Châteaux Region produces superb wines that include Moulis, Listrac, Saint Julien, Saint Estèphe, Pauillac, Médoc, Haut Médoc, and Margaux (with the celebrated château of the same name).
Upon arrival in Bordeaux, you will have a short panoramic city tour prior to a being dropped off to enjoy a few hours of free time to explore the town at your leisure. Take advantage of this opportunity to shop, visit museums or just stroll about and discover more about the history of the city. Sites of note include the World War II German submarine base, Place de la Bourse, the riverfront, Cailhau Gate, Grosse cloche from the English Period, Cathedral of St André, and Gambetta Square. You also won't want to miss seeing the Grand Theater. Built by Victor Louis in 1773, it's one of the most beautiful 18th-century theaters in Europe.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 3 1/2 hours of free time. Walking on this tour is at the guests' discretion. There are some cobblestone surfaces to negotiate in the city. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns who are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Lunch is not included in this tour; however, there are numerous dining venues in the city. Weather appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
