Barcelona, Spain-port

One of Europe’s most visually stunning cities, Barcelona balances the medieval intimacy of its Gothic Quarter with the grace and distinction of the wide boulevards in the Moderniste Eixample. It was the home of architect Antoni Gaudí, whose Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Park Güell and Casa Milà are the most profound statements of Modernisme. View the splendid works at the Picasso Museum and the Miro Foundation, or discover Barcelona’s passionate ambiance at a flamenco show.

Barcelona's Gothic and Medieval history is yours to discover during a picturesque orientation tour of the city.

Depart the pier for the drive through the center of Barcelona. Along the way, a stop will be made in front of the old city walls in the Gothic Quarter to visit the Barcelona Cathedral and its cloister. From here, you will continue on to Plaça Sant Jaume, site of the Town Hall and Generalitat buildings, then on to Plaça del Rei, site of the History Museum of the City.

Next, you will leave the Gothic Quarter for a guided panoramic tour of the city's sites, including Montjuïc, Plaça de Espanya, Gran Via, Rambla Catalunya, and Passeig de Gràcia. En route, a photo stop will be made at Sagrada Familia.

Afterward, you will have the opportunity to visit Montjuïc Mountain, another important area of the city where many of the Barcelona's Olympic sites are located. Upon arrival, you will visit a wonderful museum located inside the National Palace of Catalonia. This museum specializes in Gothic and Romanic art, but also features Panteocrats and Gothic pieces found in Old Barcelona, as well as temporary exhibitions on display. Following your visit, you will re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.

Please note: Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes for this tour, which involves 3 hours of moderate walking over flat, inclined and uneven surfaces, extended periods of standing and more than 30 steps to climb at the entrance of the Barcelona Cathedral. This tour is not considered suitable for guests with limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair. Shoulders and knees must be covered if you wish to enter the Cathedral. The Cathedral is closed to guided groups on Sundays; Bank Holidays 9:00AM-2:00PM and 5:00PM-7:45PM; normal weekdays 1:00PM-5:00PM; and when mass service is taking place. Should this occur during your visit, guides will give an explanation outside and guests will enter on an individual basis to view the interior quietly and reverently. Due to new parking restrictions for coaches, please be advised that there will be a 15-minute walk from the parking area to the Sagrada Familia and vice-versa (30-min in total).
