Explore both cosmopolitan London and the quintessentially British countryside in the Cotswolds, admiring a variety of popular attractions such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and esteemed Blenheim Palace.

    DAY 1

Fly into London Heathrow or London Gatwick Airport, where you will be met and transferred to the Mayfair Hotel. Although every effort will be made to have your room available prior to the 3:00pm check in, it cannot be guaranteed.

The remainder of the day and meals are on your own, after which you will overnight at the hotel.

    DAY 2

Accompanied by a London blue badge guide, you will enjoy a full day of sightseeing, taking in many of the city’s most popular attractions. They range from bustling Leicester Square at the heart of London’s theatre district to serene Royal Parks, nested in the heart of the capital.

You will also have the chance to experience the pomp and pageantry of the Changing of the Guard, during which one of the Queens Foot Guard Household Regiments march from St. James Palace to Buckingham Palace. The event starts at 11:30am daily from April until July and on alternate days from August until April. In the event of heavy rain, where the ceremony does not operate, it will still be possible to view Buckingham Palace and the Horse Guards Parade, while your knowledgeable guide elaborates on this historic tradition.

Then, after a lunch of fish and chips in a traditional London pub, you will continue sightseeing by motor coach. You will drive through the Old City of London, passing the architectural masterpiece St. Paul’s Cathedral before heading to The Tower of London, where you will see the Crown Jewels.

The Royal Regalia have been guarded at the Tower of London since the 14th century and exhibited for private viewing since the 17th century. Representing hundreds of years of British tradition and royal ownership, most of the collection has been used by successive kings and queens since 1660.

(Please note: Parts of the itinerary may be reversed depending on local traffic conditions and times available at the Tower of London.)

By late afternoon, you will return to the hotel, where you can spend evening at your leisure.

    Optional Theatre Package

A list of shows playing in London’s West End will be available on request, and we will arrange for your tickets to be at the box office prior to the performance. Please check with RSSC or OCI Reservations for a list of available shows and for pricing on this optional add on package.

Tickets must be booked in advance of your arrival. Because shows are subject to availability we request that when you make your request for this package, that you list a choice of three shows in order of preference from the list that you receive. The producers of each individual show determine the booking period. This can be as far as 18 months in advance, or as little as 3 months in advance, it really does depend on the show. Thus if you wish to request a choice of three shows, your first choice or whichever is available will be confirmed once the booking period is open.

All tickets are allocated in best-available seats, but keep in mind that many London theatres are quite old and considered historic buildings.

Once tickets are selected and confirmed, there will be no refund for changes or cancellations. The theatre package also includes round-trip transportation between the hotel and the theatre in a private executive car.

When you arrive in London you will receive further details regarding your transfer time.

    DAY 3

Today’s excursion will take you out of London to one of the most quintessentially English regions: The Cotswolds, which is known for its beautiful villages and towns, rolling hills and countryside, stately homes, castles and magnificent gardens.

Departing London, you will head towards Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and perhaps England’s finest palace. After journeying approximately 90 minutes, you will explore the palace’s interior, visiting staterooms filled with exquisite examples of superb craftsmanship and priceless treasures collected over three centuries. Outside, you will admire the beauty and tranquility of the parkland, which dates from the 1760s, and the more recently designed formal gardens.

Afterwards, you will drive to Burford for lunch. Known as the Gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford has been deemed an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is protected by the Cotswolds Conservation Board.

The afternoon will be spent driving through the countryside, dotted with villages, hamlets, and small towns with buildings made from local honey-colored stone. You will also have free time to explore and shop in the villages of Bourton-on-the-Water, Upper and Lower Slaughter, and Stow-on-the-Wold, an oasis for art lovers.

Following this relaxing afternoon in the Cotswolds, you will drive back to London, which will take approximately two hours, depending on the traffic.

The remainder of the evening is at your leisure.
