Darwin Harbor Cruise
Duration: 3 hours
Tour Code: DRW-003
Enjoy a relaxing harbor cruise and panoramic tour of Darwin on this charming tour.
Unbeknownst to many, Darwin, in addition to being a modern tropical capital, is situated on a harbor twice the size of Sydney's. Board your charterd tour vessel and then sit back and relax while you spend the next hour exploring Darwin Harbour and hearing commentary about its unique history. Learn about the ferocious bombing raid on Darwin conducted by the Japanese in 1942, which sank 12 ships in the harbor. The harbor itself has huge tidal movements (up to 26 feet) and the only 4 gate, salt-water loch in Australia. Once you have traveled through the loch and emerged into the harbor, you'll see Larrakeyah, the Naval Patrol boat base and Doctors Gully, home to a popular and unusual local attraction, made so by the hundreds of fish that come to shore at high tide to be fed by hand. As you pass Darwin's Esplanade, you will be able to see your ship berthed at the wharf precinct.
During your tour, you'll be treated to a refreshment on board, as you pass several interesting sights along the way. These would include the new East Arm Port and the Darwin railway line. You may also see naval vessels from all over the world.
At the conclusion of your cruise, re-board your coach and enjoy a panoramic tour of Darwin's highlights before returning to the pier.
Please note: Shoes with non-slip soles are recommended as well as a sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. The vessel used on the tour has both air-conditioned and non-air conditioned areas.
