Duration: 6 1/2 hours
Tour Code: KEE-006
This delightful tour showcases several facets of Taipei and extends into the evening hours with a traditional Chinese dinner and visit to a night market.
Departing from the ship in the late afternoon, you will travel by coach to Taipei and the site of your first stop, the Lin An Tai Historical House. This Fuijian-style courtyard house with its elegant decorations has been recently renovated and is part of the Taipei International Flora Exposition venue located within the Xinsheng Park area. The house gives visitors a chance to see what life was like for a family that enjoyed financial success during the 1800s. Time permitting, you may also have an opportunity to visit several of the other pavilions located within the Exposition site.
Next, you will travel to the San Want Taipei Residence where you will be treated to a dinner of traditional Chinese favorites. Afterwards, you will make your way to Longshan Temple, a famous temple in Taiwan that is considered by many to be one of Taiwan's finest. The temple was built during the time of the Ching Dynasty and has undergone several restorations over the years. During your visit, you can view the beautiful architectural details of the temple, which include wonderfully decorated doors, exquisite sculptures and a pair of bronze dragons found in the front hall.
From the temple, it's a short stroll to the Huaxi Street Night Market. The ambience here is decidedly Chinese and visitors are greeted by a traditional post at the entrance while Chinese lanterns are hung along the street. Tucked away in this bustling and colorful shopping arcade you will find numerous historical shops and venues selling renowned local delicacies.
When your time here comes to a close, you will rejoin your coach and travel back to the pier in Keelung.
