A Stroll in the Park

Light Activity

Duration: 4 hours

Tour Code: SAG-005

Discover the wonders within the Saguenay National Park at its Interpretation Center and then take a leisurely stroll along one of the park's easiest trails.

Your tour commences from the pier with a scenic drive to Saguenay National Park, which encompasses the spectacular Saguenay Fjord, the world's southernmost fjord. One of the best ways to understand this intricate ecosystem is by visiting the Interpretation Center at the heart of the park. Here, during an informative presentation, you'll discover how the deep fjord was carved out of the land by powerful glaciers millions of years ago, why the Saguenay River is so dark and salty, and what wildlife thrives in the park. One of the most frequently seen marine animals is the Beluga whale, an arctic species that comes to feed on krill in the summer. The Beluga's white color makes it easy to spot, even from a distance.

After your orientation at the Interpretation Center, you will head outside to enjoy a one-hour walk along the short Meandres des Falaises trail. It's a nice, easy walk with plenty of extraordinary sights along the way, including the Eternity River Delta. Afterwards, feel free to explore a bit on your own, or return to the Interpretation Center and visit the gift shop. Afterwards, travel back to the pier where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour includes 1-hour of moderate walking that covers 1-mile. There are various natural surfaces and gradients to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Participants should be in reasonably good physical condition. Weather appropriate, layered clothing and sturdy, comfortable walking/hiking shoes are recommended.
