Amsterdam, Netherlands-port

As capital cities go, Amsterdam is small in comparison. It has a reputation for free-spirited and very liberal lifestyles. Some might call it Europe's most "radical" city, but one cannot deny the beauty of Amsterdam and its rich history. Amsterdam is a cultural center of Europe, as exemplified in its more than 140 art galleries and 40 museums. In addition, it is famous for its baroque architecture, canals, and cobblestone streets where the favored mode of transportation is the bicycle.

Amsterdam - the Heart of Holland

Seated Tour

Duration: 3 hours

Tour Code: AMS-001

You'll begin your tour with a short drive through the historic city center where you will board a glass-topped canal boat for your journey through Amsterdam's lovely canals. Outside your boat, the houses have many styles, ranging from striking Renaissance facades to simpler, more classic ones - each with its own distinct type of gable. The occasional mansion replaces the slender old merchant house. Bridges of many different types, from the rare old wooden bridge to larger ornamented ones, loom overhead. Numerous houseboats and tiny skiffs are tied up beside stone canal walls, an indelible part of the city's fabric. After your boat ride, you will enjoy a scenic drive through Amsterdam on your way back to the ship.

Please note: This tour includes a small amount of walking between the ship and the canal boat. There are steps to be taken in and out of the canal boat. Caps and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested along with an umbrella and light raincoat as in lowlands weather can change rapidly. This tour is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests.
