Discover the landmarks of Barcelona on a wide-ranging exploration that includes two of Antoni Gaudí’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, some free time in the Gothic Quarter and a visit to a recreated Spanish village. After a picturesque drive through the city, pause at Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Família, begun in 1883 and a cacophony of twisting columns, fanciful spires and stained glass windows. Along tony Passeig de Gràcia, you’ll see Gaudí’s kaleidoscopic Casa Batlló, a building that appears to be constructed from the bones of colossal marine creatures.

For a dramatic contrast, spend some time at the atmospheric Gothic Quarter. Stroll its narrow streets and handsome squares, lined with medieval buildings and scattered about with remnants of walls and other constructions from an earlier Roman city. Enjoy a traditional Catalan lunch and continue to El Poble Espanyol, an atmospheric village constructed for the 1929 International Exposition that illustrates the architectural heritage of Spain through 117 buildings representing the country’s various regions. During free time, browse artisan shops displaying works in glass, ceramics and embroidery. Conclude your comprehensive tour with a drive over Montjuïc, a forested hill that offers expansive views of Barcelona.
