Departure by coach from the ship for a panoramic drive of Bordeaux, a city recently listed as UNESCO World Heritage site. This distinction recognizes the beauty and unity of style of Bordeaux's architectural heritage, which has developed harmoniously over the centuries and remained remarkably well-preserved.
Begin with a scenic drive into the city for a panoramic tour of Bordeaux. Experience the French history through views of the Place de la Bourse, the river front and the Cailhau Gate. See the Cathedral of St. André, the Place Gambetta and the Palais Rohan, now the City Hall. View the Grand Theater from Place Tourny. See the monument to the Girondins and the Place des Quinconces.
You will then drive to nearby vineyards surrounding Bordeaux. Stop at one of the prestigious estates to visit their cellars, be introduced to the art of wine making, and enjoy an exquisite wine tasting before returning to the pier to your awaiting ship.
Please note: This tour is mostly panoramic in nature with one stop at the wine chateau. The visit at the wine chateau is approximately 60-minutes and includes some easy to moderate walking and a few steps and stairs to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned only to participate to the extent of their personal stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. Guests should be prepared for the possibility of rain. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
