Batumi Botanical Gardens

Light Activity /Walking

Duration: 3 hours

Tour Code: BSP-001

A magnificent overview of Batumi, this excursion begins grandly by focusing on the city's revered botanical garden, one of the largest in the former Soviet Union.

Depart from the pier and drive directly to the nearby Batumi Botanical Garden, a flourishing wonderland of thousands of exotic species. Established in 1912, the garden sprawls atop a cliff on the aptly named Green Cape and is divided into numerous sections, each devoted to plants from a different region of the world. During your ninety-minute visit, you might see Himalayan firs, New Zealand flax, Chinese cherry trees and agaves indigenous to Mexico. It's an immensely enjoyable experience that sets the tone for the rest of day.

Continuing on, you'll make your way into Old Batumi, and drive along Primorsky (Russian for "maritime") Boulevard, stopping for photos before making your way back to the cruise ship pier.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 90-minutes of moderate walking which includes slopes to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Women must cover their heads when entering churches and shorts are not permitted. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
