Ports and Excursions of South America

Búzios, Brazil-port

The tiny fishing village of Búzios, just 105 miles from Rio de Janeiro, is considered one of the ten most beautiful spots in the world. The village burst into prominence when French actress Brigitte Bardot visited here in her heyday (there’s a statue of her looking out to sea on the Orla Bardot). Today, this once sleepy village is an international resort -- St. Tropez, with a unique Brazilian beat. Búzios offers some of South America’s most attractive beaches. Indeed, you could lounge on one magnificent beach each hour of the day, sipping a delicious caipirinhas of course.

Beach & Swim By Schooner

Light Activity

Duration: 2 1/2 hours

Tour Code: BUZ-001

Buzios' beaches, nestled between peaks, are mostly small and isolated, with calm, clean waters. Its breathtaking views are a sight not to be missed! Of course, the climate in Buzios is a testament to "Mother Nature" and blessed with a wonderful year-round summer.

Board a Bahian style saveiro (the name given to this typical boat that looks like a schooner), for a leisurely cruise in the green waters of Buzios. The cruise time is approximately 2.5 hours, and will include stops for swimming, snorkeling and beachcombing.

The tour will pass by famous beaches and islands such as; Ossos, Azeda, Azedinha, João Fernandes, João Fernandinho, Ilha Branca, Tartaruga, Virgem, Amores, Canto, Ilha do Caboclo e Armação. During the cruise, a stop will be made at Ilha Feia and Praia da Tartaruga for swimming and snorkeling.

The schooner is equipped with restroom facilities, and some refreshments will be available - mineral water, soft drinks, and of course the traditional Brazilian Caipirinha drink.

Please note: Walking is optional on this tour and can be done during the stop for snorkeling. Guests should be able to maneuver entering and exiting the vessel. Vessel offers bench-like seating. To reach the beach, guests must swim from the schooner as it anchors off-shore. There is a limited amount of snorkeling equipment onboard, and guests may wish to bring their own.
