Ballestas Island
Duration: 3 hours
Tour Code: PIO-003
Explore Peru's own version of the Galapagos during this fascinating tour of the Ballestas Islands.
You'll transfer by bus from the Port of Pisco to the private pier belonging to the Hotel Paracas, where you'll board your boat and ride to the scenic Ballestas Islands. Though on a much smaller scale, these islands represent Peru's very own version of the Galapagos Islands. The Paracas Peninsula and nearby Ballestas Islands comprise the most important wildlife sanctuary on the Peruvian coast. During your journey, you'll marvel at the famous Candelabro, also known as Candelabra, a giant figure in the style of the Nazca drawings etched into the coastal hills.
While cruising around the Ballestas Islands, you'll have the opportunity to watch many different kinds of marine birds, including the frequently observed Guanay cormorant, Peruvian booby and Peruvian pelican. Humboldt penguins, Chilean flamingoes and large colonies of sea lions can also be found here.
Please note: The boats are not covered. Wear a hat and sunglasses, and bring sunscreen.
