Airboat Adventure and Belize City Tour
Duration: 2 1/2 hours
Tour Code: BZE-002
Experience the scenic beauty of Belize and the Almond Hill Lagoon during this memorable Chukka/Bakabush Adventure.
Depart the pier for the drive through Belize City. En route, your guide will inform you about the city's rich history, from its establishment by shipwrecked British sailors in 1683 to present day. Upon arrival, you will pass by Saint John's Cathedral, Central America's oldest cathedral, along with many other interesting sites.
Next, you will proceed to the Airboat Outpost, situated on a waterway leading to the Almond Hill Lagoon. Upon arrival, you will receive a short orientation and safety briefing under a Mayan thatched palapa long house before boarding your 450 horsepower airboat. You will then ride through a waterway at speeds over 40 m.p.h. en route to the manatee grounds in the beautiful Almond Hill Lagoon. Upon arrival, your captain will cut the engine and quietly drift in search of the docile and shy manatees that frequent the area.
Afterward, you will speed up again for the ride across the lagoon towards Indian Creek. You will then ride along the pristine mangrove-lined open marshland in water only inches deep. Along the way, you will see beautiful water lilies, many colors and varieties of wading birds, turtles and maybe even a crocodile.
Following your visit, you will speed back across the Almond Hill Lagoon en route to the Airboat Outpost. Upon arrival, some time will be made available to relax with a cool complimentary drink and purchase an authentic Belizean souvenir before you are transferred back to the pier.
Please note: Guests are advised to wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Participants must be at least six years of age and accompanied by a parent.
