Nassau, Bahamas-port

The 700 islands of the Bahamas Islands begin 50 miles off the coast of Florida, stretching 760 miles to the southeast. The heritage of Old Nassau blends the Southern charm of British loyalists from the Carolinas, the African tribal traditions of freed slaves, and a bawdy history of blockade-running during the Civil War and rum-running in the Roaring 1920s. Over it all is a subtle layer of civility and sophistication, derived from three centuries of British rule.

Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin Encounter

Most Active or Strenuous

Duration: 3 1/4 hours

Tour Code: NAS-004

This wonderful tour brings you closer to an Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin than you ever dreamed possible!

A 15-minute walk from the ship brings you to the high-speed, double-decker catamaran that stands ready to transport you to world-famous Blue Lagoon Island. En route, you'll be treated to the beautiful scenery of Nassau's historic harbor.

Arriving at Blue Lagoon Island, your program begins with a fun, interactive, orientation that briefly covers the natural history of dolphins, animal training techniques, ocean conservation and Watchable Wildlife Guidelines. After being prepped for your encounter, you will proceed to the Dolphin Encounter float where you will stand on a waist-deep submerged platform and experience a heart-warming kiss, a hug, a dance and opportunities to rub down the dolphin. Your dolphin trainer will combine elements of hands-on contact, education, fun, laughter, and adventure to make this an unforgettable experience (Wet suits are available during cooler weather).

During your time at Blue Lagoon Island, you can also observe the California Sea Lions in their all-natural habitat. Many of these sea lions were rescued from Gulfport, Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. After a visit of approximately 2-hours, you will re-board your catamaran for the transfer back to the pier in Nassau.

Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of activity and is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair and have a companion to assist them. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Swim wear; flat, comfortable walking shoes or aqua socks; a towel; sun caps and sunglasses are suggested. Tour participants taking part in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility. Guests wishing to make any purchases at the facility should bring cash and/or credit cards. Dolphins do splash a lot so participants are advised to be very cautious with their personal camera equipment as Dolphin Encounters Ltd. will not be liable for any damage.
