What To Expect During a Luxury Cruise to Alaska with Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Pack Light, Layer Right

With Alaska’s famously variable weather, the key to packing smart is all about layering. Throughout your voyage, daytime conditions can shift quickly, from cool and damp mornings to bright, sunny afternoons. Rather than overpacking, focus on bringing versatile, layerable pieces that keep you comfortable in any climate.

Start with base layers, like thermal tops and leggings, to retain warmth on chilly days or early morning excursions. Add insulating mid-layers, such as cozy fleece or wool sweaters, which provide adaptable warmth without taking up too much suitcase space. Top it all off with waterproof outerwear, including a jacket with a hood and rain pants, to keep you dry during misty walks or glacier viewings. Don’t forget comfortable, water-resistant walking shoes, ideal for exploring ports, trails and scenic lookouts.

And for evenings onboard, pack a few pieces of smart casual attire, with one or two elevated outfits if you plan to enjoy formal dining experiences or special events. With the right layers, you’ll be ready for every Alaskan adventure.

Valet Laundry On Board

Worried about needing multiple outfits per day? Don’t be. Take advantage of complimentary valet laundry service available on board. Freshly washed and folded laundry delivered right to your suite means you can pack fewer clothes and still feel fresh every day, whether you're heading out to explore glaciers or enjoying a gourmet dinner.

Forgot Something?

Don’t worry. The onboard boutique is stocked with essentials, from sunscreen and over-the-counter meds to stylish accessories and outerwear. You may even find a new keepsake from your Alaskan adventure. Shops are typically open while at sea, and hours are listed in your daily Passages newsletter.

Suggested Packing List

Alaska may not be the tropics, but you’ll still want to pack:

  • Swimsuit (for hot tubs or the spa)
  • Medications and personal items (some brands may not be available on board or in port)
  • Sunscreen and bug repellent

You can leave at home:

  • Reusable water bottle — provided in your suite
  • Umbrellas, bathrobes, slippers, and luxury bath products — also available in your suite
  • Tote bag, binoculars and cashmere blanket — available in Concierge Suites or higher
  • Bluetooth speaker — included in Penthouse Suites and above
