Rarotonga, Cook Islands-port

Rarotonga, the capital of the scattered nation of the Cook Islands, is a relaxing place of beauty and style. Its small population lives on the coast of the circular island, while the interior is lush, rugged, and jungle-clad, offering the opportunity for challenging walks and sensational views. A former New Zealand colony, it has the distinct feel of a New Zealand Polynesian outpost, including New Zealand newspapers and television-as well as the distinctive accent.

Depart the pier with your guide, a Cook Islands' warrior, for the drive to the Highland Paradise Cultural Village. En route, your guide will inform you about the lives of the native Cook Islanders prior to the arrival of the missionaries. Upon arrival at the Highland Paradise Cultural Village, you will learn about the spiritual marae and voyaging skills of the island's forefathers, see the High Chief's rock throne and canoe navigator's compass rock, and sample the local cuisine and tropical fruit.

The highlight of your visit will be a passionate and colorful performance of native dancing and music that embraces the true spirit of the island's culture.

Following your visit, you will be transferred back to the pier.
