Located on the southeast coast of the island of Viti Levu, Suva is the capital city of Fiji. As the largest urban area in the South Pacific outside of Australia and New Zealand, it is Fiji’s main port city, and the commercial and political center of Fiji. The city hosted the 2003 South Pacific Games, being the third time in the event's history that they had been held in Suva.

After departing from the pier, you will drive for approximately one-hour to the island’s southern coast, a fertile land of rolling green hills and sugar cane plantations. Upon arriving at the Pearl South Pacific Resort, you will have free time to enjoy the amenities. With no schedule to follow and hours to relax however you please, the experience should be wonderfully refreshing.
You might swim in the freshwater pool, shop in the boutique and enjoy a refreshing drink in one of six bars. The resort is right on the beach, a long stretch of pristine sand where you can stroll at your leisure or simply bask in the sun. If you are feeling competitive, you might join a friendly game of volleyball.
While there are four restaurants on the premises, a complimentary buffet lunch will be served. Fijian cuisine tends to be simple and exceptionally fresh.
You will also be treated to a traditional “meke” performance, during which costumed men and women express their daily lives through dance. After nearly three hours at the resort, you will transfer back to the pier.
Please note: Walking on this tour is primarily at the guests’ discretion. There are sandy and uneven surfaces at the beach. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach, and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; a swimsuit if planning on water or beach activities; a change of clothes; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; a towel from the ship; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Experience Fiji's local flavors and traditions in a unique new way during this cruise along the Navua River, along with a kava ceremony and lunch in a local village.
Depart the pier by local island bus for the 1-hour long scenic drive through Suva, then continue past Namuamua en route to Navua. Upon arrival at the Navua River, you will embark an open longboat for a scenic and breathtaking 45-minute journey upriver. Your cruise will be highlighted by endless mountain ranges, a thick tropical rain forest abounding with bird life, deep gorges, cascading waterfalls, and exotic fauna and flora.
Upon reaching the isolated Raiwaqa Village, located on a 14-mile-long island at a height of almost 1,000 feet above sea level, you will be welcomed by the chiefs and villagers with a traditional Fijian kava ceremony (guests will not drink kava, but will participate in the ceremony). After the ceremony, you will take a guided walking tour of the village. Along the way, you will learn about the island's history, and coconut husking and scraping. You will also have an opportunity to mingle with the natives, purchase local handicrafts and join in the village entertainment.
Next, you will embark your longboat for the return cruise to Navua, where you can take a refreshing swim in the Magic Waterfall; Navua's largest waterfall.
At the conclusion of your longboat portion of the return journey, you will re-board the island bus and transfer back to the pier.
Please note: While there is limited walking, the tour can be strenuous. You will spend approximately 1-hour on the local bus and 45-minutes on the longboats; in each direction. The seats in the longboats are wooden and have no back rests. This tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. A buffet lunch that will include a soft drink or bottled water is included; however there may not be seating and guests may need to stand or sit on the ground. Guests are encouraged to wear swim attire under a cover-up, comfortable flat shoes, sunscreen, and bring a towel, rain jacket or change of clothes with you in case you get wet on the longboat. Depart the pier for the scenic drive by island bus into the mountains behind Suva, and a visit to Forest Park. En route, a shopping and restroom stop will be made. Upon arrival at Forest Park, you will take a guided hike through the peaceful green Fijian rainforest. Along the way, you will see the lower pool in the peaceful forest surrounded by bush land and an abundance of photogenic bird life. You will also have an opportunity to take a swim in the cool, crystal-clear mountain pools.
Afterward, you will be transferred to the Raintree Lodge. Built on a manmade pool, the lodge offers a lovely natural atmosphere in which to relax with a drink, snack on some seasonal fruits and listen as a singing trio serenades you with their local songs.
Following your visit, you will re-board your bus for the return drive to the pier.

Explore the evolution of Fiji's fascinating cultural history and art during this half-day tour that includes a spectacular performance by the Fijian Firewalkers.
Depart the pier for the 1-hour drive to Pacific Harbor, which features panoramic vistas of Fijian villages, tropical rain-forested mountains and flat pastureland. En route, a brief photo stop will be made at the world-renowned Arts Village of Fiji. Upon arrival at Pacific Harbor, you will be greeted by the reverberating sound of a hollow drum beaten by a Fijian warrior, the blowing of a conch shell and the welcoming song of the villagers. After being served a complimentary drink, you will be escorted to the amphitheater to witness a spectacular performance by Fijian Firewalkers and the enthralling group from the Arts Village of Fiji.
From your shaded seat, you will see Fiji's storied past come alive before your very eyes. You will marvel at the Fijian Firewalkers demonstrating their mysterious power over flame. As elders chant, young men will remove the burning logs from a smoking pit to reveal the white-hot stones signaling the beginning of this ancient ceremony. The group from the Arts Village of Fiji will then entertain you with traditional dancing, and by re-enacting their legends and history amidst this idyllic setting.
After the show, you may opt to stroll around the cool fern trees and shady palms in the exotic tropical gardens, be serenaded by the village singers, or join your guide for a walking tour around the Arts Village complex. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to mingle with the villagers and watch handicraft demonstrations.
At the conclusion of your visit, some time will be made available for you to browse the souvenir shops before re-boarding the bus for the 1-hour return drive to the pier.

Next, you will drive through the Nasese foreshore en route to Vatuwaqa's residential and industrial areas. Wander through an aromatic spice farm and lush gardens full of medicinal plants and flowers. Watch a demonstration of native Fijian cooking and be entertained by lively native dances.
After departing from the pier, you will settle in for an exceptionally scenic drive to an organic spice farm and gardens in the island’s bucolic Wainadoi area.
Following a traditional welcome ceremony, you will have the opportunity to stroll through the luxuriant spice farm and gardens, where you may see vanilla beans, turmeric, ginger and nutmeg with bright-red mace seeds inside. There are also plants used for medicinal purposes, dyes and weaving. During the tour, the native Fijians who cultivate the gardens will explain the different species and offer a sampling of spices.
You will also learn how spices are used in Fijian cuisine and then watch a culinary demonstration. Many meals are traditionally cooked in an earth oven or cooking pit called a “lovo.” Typically, a fire is built at the bottom of a hole and allowed to burn until it smolders. Then green vegetation is added for moisture, food is layered on top, and more vegetation is added. Finally, the concoction is covered with soil and slow cooked for hours.
After the cooking demonstration, you will be treated to an enjoyable performance of Fijian songs and dances. Before returning to the pier, there will be some free time to shop for spices and local handicrafts.
