    Beijing’s extraordinary past comes alive as you explore some of the world’s most renowned historical sites. Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and the center of many significant events in China’s history. A 250-acre complex, the Forbidden City is home to some of the most important treasures of China’s imperial past. Just outside the Forbidden City, visit the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, an ornate, triple-gabled edifice that stands at center of the Temple of Heaven complex. Travel beyond Beijing to the Great Wall of China, constructed over 2,000 years ago and stretching 5,500 miles.

    DAY 1

    Following breakfast on board, disembark Seven Seas Voyager and transfer to Beijing.

    After lunch, visit the impressive Tian’anmen Square, the largest public square in the world and site of many important events in Chinese history.

    Then, visit the Forbidden City, home to the emperors in the Ming and Qing dynasties and a 250-acre complex of pavilions, halls, courtyards and gates showcasing some of the most important treasures of China’s imperial past.

    Continue to your hotel for check-in.

    Dinner will be on your own and the rest of the evening at leisure.

    DAY 2

    Following breakfast, enjoy a scenic ride to the Great Wall at Juyongguan. Explore the amazing Great Wall, actually a series of walls first constructed over 2000 years ago in an attempt to ward off northern nomads.

    Following lunch, continue to one of the Ming Tombs. Learn more about the burial rituals employed during the Ming dynasty before returning to your hotel. Enjoy rest of the day at your leisure.

    In the evening, enjoy a traditional Peking duck dinner at a renowned local restaurant.

    DAY 3

    Enjoy an early breakfast in the hotel before venturing to the Temple of Heaven. Initially built in 1420, this is the site where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worship heaven and pray for a bumper harvest. It is listed in the World Heritage in 1998. The main structure in the vast compound is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a magnificent triple-gabled circular building. Completely wooden, without any nails, it is one of the architectural wonders of ancient China. The Temple of Heaven is also a public park where local people begin their day with such morning activities as playing Tai Chi, singing Peking Opera or writing Chinese calligraphy.

    You are free to walk around the pine-lined ground or take part in the Tai Chi exercise! After this visit you will transfer back to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure with dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

    Following breakfast at hotel you will transfer to the Beijing Airport for your flight home. Transfers will be arranged according to your flight time.

    Check out time is 12:00pm. For guests with late flights, luggage storage will be available at the hotel.

    2:30pm Visit to the Changling Tomb of Ming Tombs

    4:45pm Return to hotel. Afternoon at leisure

    6:00pm Depart hotel for Peking duck dinner

    6:40pm Peking duck dinner at a renowned local restaurant

    9:00pm Return to hotel

    Overnight at the China World Hotel or similar hotel

    Day 3

    7:00am Buffet breakfast

    9:00am Depart hotel for a half day tour

    9:30am Visit to the Temple of Heaven

    12:00pm Return to hotel and lunch on own

    Remainder of the day at leisure and dinner on own

    Settle incidental charges at the hotel this evening in order to avoid queues in the morning

    Day 4

    7:00am Buffet breakfast

    12:00pm Check out at the hotel. Transfers to the Beijing Airport will be arranged based on your Flight time. A departure notice will be posted at the hotel for luggage procedures and transfer times to the airport.

    EXTRA NIGHTS: Should you book any extra nights through the cruise line, you will be transferred to the airport per your departure flight details. Please note that check out time is 12:00pm. Any meals other than breakfast as well as any activities are on your own after the program officially ends on the morning of Day 4.

    What to Bring: Warm clothing including a warm jacket and comfortable walking shoes are a must. Hats, mitts and scarves are also recommended for this time of year. The attire is casual for the entire program.

    Currency:

    The Chinese Currency is Renminbi (RMB) and the rate is approx. RMBY 6.00 = US $ 1.00 Money exchange is available at the hotel cashier. Most shops accept US dollars and credit cards.

    Drinking water:

    It is not recommended that tap water be consumed. Bottled water can be purchased from hotel, stores and restaurant. Also one bottle of mineral water will be offered to guests in the hotel room everyday on complimentary basis.

    Electricity:

    The Voltage in China is 220 volts (U.S. Standard is 110 volts). Adapters and transformers are available from the hotel housekeeping.

    Document and Visa Requirement:

    Passports must be valid for at least 6 months.

    A double entry visa is required for both the Pre and Post Cruise programs.

    The visa must be obtained prior to sailing from a Chinese embassy or consulate. Visas cannot be obtained upon arrival at Chinese ports.
