  • POST - ABU DHABI, DUBAI DUNES & SHARJAH CODE: DXBL89

Discover the intriguing history and modern development of the emirates by experiencing some of the ancient and natural wonders of Abu Dhabi and Dubai and also visiting the cultural landmarks of Sharjah.

    Day 1: April 8th, 2020

Disembark the ship in Abu Dhabi - the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and named after a breed of gazelles by a Sheikh of the Bani Yas tribe. This magnificent city which was founded in 1761 is situated on a small peninsula surrounded by a cluster of islands.

Your tour today offers an ideal introduction to Abu Dhabi. The first stop is the magnificent Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi. The majestic Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque is probably the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society - and one of the most beautiful in the world - initiated no less by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is fondly thought of as the father of UAE.

From here you will drive along the spectacular Corniche and Palace area and around the city of Abu Dhabi, popularly referred to as “Manhattan of the Gulf” because of the profusion of the ultra-modern glazed skyscrapers, gleaming white mosques and elegant high-rise apartments. You will drive to the tip of the breakwater for a superb view of the city’s magnificent skyline before continuing on to the Emirates Palace, the most prestigious hotel in the Emirates. (Photo stop outside the hotel only). The Palace is an architectural wonder and an international landmark boasting a staggering 114 domes all covered in mosaic glass tiles.

Next proceed to Heritage Village which houses a small museum and depicts the daily activities of the Arab community prior to the discovery of oil.

Before heading back to Dubai you will stop at Marina Mall for some free time to wander at your leisure or perhaps grab some lunch.

Finally you will drive to Dubai and check in to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is at your leisure with dinner on your own.

**Note: The Grand Mosque does not provide ladies a headscarf or abaya free of charge and there is no shop on sight to buy them. Ladies please come prepared with something to cover you head or entrance will unfortunately be denied. For men and women: no transparent clothing, no shorts or skirts, no sleeveless shirts, no clothing with profanity and no tight clothing (including leggings) or beachwear.

    Day 2: April 9th, 2020

Following breakfast at hotel you will have the morning at your leisure.

In the afternoon you will depart for an adventurous dune dinner safari. Experience the sheer thrill of being driven up and down golden yellow sand dunes in comfortable 4 wheel drive vehicles. Drive past the Bedouin villages and stop at a camel camp to discuss the “news” of the day!

You will then enjoy some thrilling dune bashing with the experienced drivers over golden sand dunes.

Close to sunset, the group arrives at the sunset point where "time stands still". Experience the silence of the desert and watch the stunning vista of endless dunes and the magical desert sunset.

After sunset you will continue your journey deep into the desert until you reach the soft light of a Bedouin Village.

The campsite is specifically built to depict an authentic Bedouin Village with Barasti (dried palm leaves) tents. It is beautifully lit and decorated with rustic carpets and low tables with soft Arabic music in the background. Despite the rustic appeal, the campsite does have modern restroom facilities and basins with running water.

The campsite even has one area set-up with hubbly bubbly water pipes (Shisha’s) where you can relax and try a puff or two of this local favorite past time after your buffet barbeque dinner or you can watch a belly dancer as she dances to the rhythm of the music.

Following this fun filled Arabian evening you will head back to your hotel.

**Note: Guests do not drive. The dune dinner safari takes place in 4 wheel drive vehicles and the drive can be quite bumpy. This is not recommended for anyone with bad backs or if they are pregnant. We recommend having a light lunch prior to the commencement of the tour. Please wear casual clothing and bring a light sweater or jacket for the evening hours. This tour is subject to weather conditions. Seating for the dinner is on low divan cushions as per the typical Bedouin way of dining.

    Day 3: April 10th, 2020

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before driving to the Emirate of Sharjah. The drive is quite panoramic as you pass some of the Emirate’s landmarks, such as the King Faisal Mosque, the Pearl Monument symbol of the country, the Blue Souk and the Ruler’s area. Worthy to know is that, in 1998, Sharjah won the UNESCO award of being the Cultural capital of the Arab world. This Emirate really takes great pride with its commitment to art and preserving the local heritage and hosts very interesting museums, such as the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization.

A visit to this museum will allow you to deepen your knowledge the country’s official religion, Islam, and to understand how the Arab civilization developed throughout the centuries. Of particular interest is also the building in which the Museum is located. Once hosting the Souk Al Majarrah, it is characterized by impressive architecture with traditional Arab-Islamic design elements in its ground-plan and décor. Its most outstanding feature is its majestic, gilt central dome, decorated on the inside with an intricate mosaic depicting the night sky and the signs of the zodiac.

Then drive to the nearby Blue Souk. It is housed in an architecturally marvelous structure – one of the most

photographed buildings in Sharjah. Also known as the Central Market, here you can find displayed various

traditional items and goods, such as antiques, gold, gems, perfumes, souvenirs and even Arabic carpets. At the

end of this culturally rich tour, drive back to your hotel in Dubai where you will have some time to relax and enjoy lunch on your own.

Later in the afternoon you will head to Dubai Mall – home to the Dubai Aquarium and underwater zoo with thousands of aquatic animals. Spend your time browsing the 12.1 million square feet of retail and entertainment options or visit the Souk Al Bahar next door – an Arabesque shopping, entertainment and dining destination. In the evening enjoy the majestic Dubai Dancing Fountain set on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake. Watch in awe as the water dances around the fountain along with lively music.

At the conclusion of the Dancing Fountain show the group will be transferred back to your hotel or you can choose to remain at the Burj Khalifa and make your own way back to the hotel. Dinner is on your own

    Day 4: April 11th, 2020
