Batumi Botanical Gardens
Duration: 3 hours
Tour Code: BSP-001
A magnificent overview of Batumi, this excursion begins grandly by focusing on the city's revered botanical garden, one of the largest in the former Soviet Union.
Depart from the pier and drive directly to the nearby Batumi Botanical Garden, a flourishing wonderland of thousands of exotic species. Established in 1912, the garden sprawls atop a cliff on the aptly named Green Cape and is divided into numerous sections, each devoted to plants from a different region of the world. During your ninety-minute visit, you might see Himalayan firs, New Zealand flax, Chinese cherry trees and agaves indigenous to Mexico. It's an immensely enjoyable experience that sets the tone for the rest of day.
Continuing on, you'll make your way into Old Batumi, and drive along Primorsky (Russian for "maritime") Boulevard, stopping for photos before making your way back to the cruise ship pier.
