Sorrento/Capri, Italy-port

Sorrento is surely one of the world’s most beautiful towns, built on a coast with breathtaking views and landscapes. Yet it is far from a frivolous vacation destination. The houses, people and the entire region are filled with a history and culture so deep that it can be traced back to the 11th century BC. Overlooking the bay of Naples, the town is the key point on the Sorrentine Peninsula and is one of the most popular destinations of the entire Campania region. Make sure to plan a day trip to Capri, one of the most celebrated Italian islands, noted for its natural beauty.

Amalfi At a Glance

Light Activity /Walking

Duration: 6 hours

Tour Code: SRT-011

Indulge your senses with the spectacular beauty and flavors of Italy during a memorable ride along Amalfi drive and a short visit to Amalfi.

A shuttle bus will transfer you from the pier to your awaiting coach. After boarding, you will then commence an unforgettable ride along the renowned Amalfi Drive. This narrow road winds alongside the rocky cliffs overlooking the sea and offers breathtaking vistas of the Italian Riviera with each twist and turn. A photo stop will be made so that you can take in the panoramic view and enjoy the marvelous Mediterranean breezes.

Your drive then continues on to Amalfi, located at the mouth of a deep bay. Upon arrival, your guide will tell you about the impressive duomo, the Cathedral of St. Andrew, which will be visited from the outside. The building is a curious combination of Moorish and early Gothic architecture. During your time in Amalfi, you will also be afforded some free time for a stroll along Amalfi's impressive marina, or you may wish to take this opportunity to browse among the colorful shops and cafés surrounding this charming village.

On the return journey to Sorrento, you will revisit the beauty of the Amalfi Drive. Once back in Sorrento, you have the choice of following your guide on a brief, but interesting orientation tour of the city, or returning directly to the ship.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 1-hour of moderate walking, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time. Those wishing to visit the inside of St. Andrew's Cathedral during free time should be advised that there are 35 steep steps to negotiate. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; sun caps; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Guests entering St. Andrew's must wear conservative attire and have their shoulders, arms and legs covered. No shorts will be permitted. In the event of heavy congestion, parking in Amalfi may not be possible.
