The small village of Kollafjord retains the spirit of the ancient Vikings that once explored the land. Be sure to visit the delightful parish church, which was built in 1837, and is also covered in turf. A typical Faroese building, the walls are made of wood, and are painted in black, which allow even the slightest ray of sunshine to heat the building. Journey to Streymoy Island for phenomenal views of the fjords below and tour the neighboring village of Kvivik, built on the site of an ancient Viking settlement dating back to the 10th century.
