Bridgetown, Barbados-port

The island of Barbados is rimmed with mile after mile of pristine beaches. The eastern edge, rugged and hilly, lies on the Atlantic Ocean. The west coast, washed by the calmer leeward sea has most of the resort hotels. It is here that you will find the capital, Bridgetown, and older colonial settlements. Tour the meticulously restored 17th-century Sunbury Plantation House or admire the spectacular views from Gun Hill Signal Station. Adventures abound at sea by catamaran or Atlantis submersible and on land by an off-road island safari. Not to miss delicacies include the sweet and tender flying fish, washed down with a glass of Barbados’ famous Mount Gay rum.

Atlantis Submarine Adventure

Seated Tour

Duration: 2 1/2 hours

Tour Code: BGI-011

Imagine yourself in a real submarine, with big view ports all around, fully submerged in the aquamarine Caribbean Sea. This is exactly what you will experience on this award winning Atlantis submarine tour which is one of the most highly recommended attractions in Barbados.

After a short transfer from the cruise ship terminal to the Atlantis office, you'll board the Ocean Quest ferry and cruise to the Atlantis dive site. Sit back and enjoy the scenic views as the professional Atlantis crew welcomes you and gives an informative safety briefing. The white sandy beaches of the Barbados coastline are always in sight as you travel out to the Atlantis dive site where you'll make the easy transfer from the Ocean Quest to the Atlantis III submarine.

Once aboard the Atlantis III, you will be treated to amazing views as curious exotic fish peek in at you and sea fans sway. This "must-do" undersea voyage takes you to a shipwreck and to depths of 150 feet, in air conditioned comfort, which in the past has been reserved only for scuba divers. A knowledgeable co-pilot narrates your forty minute underwater adventure and will help you to identify and explain the amazing sights on the other side of your window. The bottom of the ocean with its large expanses of sand becomes your playground and the professional crew ensures you will come away with some unforgettable memories as you are piloted among an array of colorful coral formations and tropical marine life.

On surfacing, you will transfer back to shore on board the Ocean Quest and then drive back to the cruise ship terminal.

Please note: This tour involves limited walking; however, guests must be able to negotiate an 11-step ladder in order to enter and exit the submarine and use the gangways without assistance. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. The minimum height requirement is three feet tall and the minimum age to participate is four years of age accompanied by a parent or guardian (no exceptions). This tour may not be exclusive to RSSC guests.
